About the PBY-5A Catalina
Developed by Consolidated Aircraft, the PBY Catalina was a twin-engine, high-wing flying boat capable of operating from both water and land in its amphibious PBY-5A version. It served the U.S. Navy in reconnaissance, anti-submarine and search-and-rescue roles across both the Pacific and Atlantic theaters of World War II.
