1934 PACKARD V-12 VICTORIA 1:18
Another Auto World keeper. IMHO, this company offers excellence at reasonable prices. I now have two (this Packard and a Duesenberg SSJ-see my review there) This model is a foot long, so the 1:1 version was obviously a monster. Get the large display case. Overall, the paint and chrome are excellent, with sharp pinstriping included on the body; very nice. However, my model had some small spots of paint rash and light swirls, luckily in areas where they are not noticeable. Overall, panel gaps are tight, but my passenger door didn’t close perfectly. Some adjustment improved it, and all other opening panels were fine. To me, these issues aren’t deal breakers. We can always wish for better QC from China, but I’m grateful that we can still get nice diecast today at reasonable prices, and aren’t stuck with resin blocks. The engine is finished in authentic looking colors, with nice bolt detail on the heads, and some firewall details. No wiring, but enough accessories to give a nice overall look. They are all black plastic and could easily be improved with some detail painting. Interior has good looking seats, acceptable gauges and a wood dash decal which adds a nice touch. A full top and a top-down boot are included, both in body color. However, I’ve seen photos of prototypes in this color with black tops, and I will repaint mine because I think it looks better with the burgundy body color. So it’s a buy, and as always, Fairfield collectables offers some of the best pricing.
