Famed American automotive designer racing driver and entrepreneur Carroll Shelby partnered with Ford to build Mustang-based performance cars. The result of their collaboration was the Shelby GT350 in 1965. By 1968 the car had evolved to the GT500 and would see the first convertible built in the series.
