About Operation Torch
Swordfish flown from escort carriers such as HMS Biter flew anti-submarine patrols to protect the Operation Torch invasion fleet, beginning as the task force approached Gibraltar in late October 1942. On November 7, 1942, No. 833 Squadron's Swordfish moved ashore to Gibraltar to continue anti-submarine coverage as the assault force gathered for the landings.
