About the RF-4E Phantom II

The RF-4E is a dedicated reconnaissance version of the F-4 Phantom II, fitted with camera and sensor equipment in place of cannon armament for high-altitude and low-level intelligence-gathering missions. The Imperial Iranian Air Force operated the type from the early 1970s, using it for surveillance over the region; Iran continued to fly its RF-4Es long after the 1979 revolution.
