About Royal Flush at Munster
On the October 10, 1943 mission to Munster, 13 of the 100th Bomb Group's B-17s were sent against the target, and the formation suffered heavy losses to enemy fighters and flak on the way in and out. Piloting Royal Flush, Lt. Robert Rosenthal nursed his aircraft home with two engines out, a large hole in the wing and wounded crew members aboard, the only one of the group's 13 B-17s on that mission to make it back to Thorpe Abbotts.
