The Bristol Beaufighter was a versatile British heavy fighter aircraft used extensively during World War II in roles ranging from night fighting to maritime strike operations. Developed by Bristol Aeroplane Company from the earlier Beaufort torpedo bomber, the Beaufighter combined powerful twin engines with heavy armament and rugged durability.
