About the C-141 Starlifter
Designed to rapidly transport troops, cargo and medical evacuees over long distances, the high-wing, four-engine C-141 could carry up to 70,000 pounds of cargo or more than 150 troops, and it played a major role in Cold War-era airlift operations, including Vietnam and the Gulf War, before being replaced by the larger C-17 Globemaster III.
