About the F-100 Super Sabre
Introduced in the 1950s, the North American F-100 Super Sabre was the first U.S. production aircraft capable of sustained supersonic speed in level flight. Its swept wings and afterburning engine suited it for both air-to-air and ground-attack roles, and during the Vietnam War it served extensively as a close-air-support aircraft.
