About the F-105 Thunderchief
The two-seat F-105F variant added a rear cockpit and extra electronic-warfare equipment, suiting it to Wild Weasel missions aimed at locating and suppressing enemy air defenses. The 128th Tactical Fighter Squadron, based at Dobbins Air Force Base near Marietta, Georgia, flew the type with the Georgia Air National Guard; "Peach 91" nods to Georgia's nickname as the Peach State. Armed with a 20mm cannon and able to carry radar-homing missiles and bombs, the F-105F combined speed and payload for both Wild Weasel and training roles into the 1980s.
