About the F-14 Tomcat
Developed by Grumman and introduced in the 1970s, the carrier-based F-14A Tomcat was known for its variable-sweep wings, which adjusted for optimal performance across flight regimes. Powered by two Pratt & Whitney TF30 engines and armed with the long-range AIM-54 Phoenix missile, it served as the U.S. Navy's primary fleet-defense fighter until its retirement in the mid-2000s.
