About the F8F Bearcat

Developed as a successor to the F6F Hellcat, the Bearcat emphasized speed, climb rate and maneuverability, powered by a Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial engine capable of exceeding 420 mph. It arrived too late to see combat in World War II but served into the early postwar years and became a favorite in air racing and with the Blue Angels.
