About the Sd.Kfz. 251
Designed by the Hanomag company of Germany as an off-road armored personnel carrier beginning in 1938, the vehicle was officially designated Sd.Kfz. 251 (Sonderkraftfahrzeug 251) and was commonly known by the German term Schutzenpanzerwagen, or armored infantry vehicle.
