About the Jet Provost and the Red Pelicans
Developed from the piston-engine Percival Provost, the Jet Provost introduced a turbojet engine to give RAF trainee pilots experience with jet performance in a forgiving, tandem two-seat platform, powered by a single Armstrong Siddeley Viper turbojet reaching about 440 mph. The Red Pelicans were the Central Flying School's official aerobatic display team, flying Jet Provosts from RAF Little Rissington.
