About the M7 Priest and Kangaroo
The M7 Priest was a U.S.-built self-propelled 105mm howitzer mounted on a Sherman/Lee-derived chassis, nicknamed "Priest" by British troops for its pulpit-like machine gun ring. Later in the war, Allied forces stripped the guns from some Priest and Sherman hulls to create the "Kangaroo," an improvised armored personnel carrier used to move infantry under armor protection.
