In early 1945 104-victory ace Lt. Gen. Adolph Galland was tasked with forming a new unit JV 44 to fly the Messerschmitt Me 262 - the world's first operational turbojet fighter - in a last-ditch effort to defend Germany and turn the tide of World War II. Originally conceived as a pure fighter the design and concept of the Me 262 had been altered by Hitler (to the dismay of Galland and other aces) to become a fighter-bomber.
The seventh release in the Oxford Diecast series of 1/72 scale die cast warplanes this model replicates White 3 the famous Me 262A flown by Galland himself in 1945.
