About Tex Hill and the P-40 Warhawk
The Curtiss P-40 Warhawk was an American single-engine fighter known for its rugged construction and, in the hands of the American Volunteer Group "Flying Tigers" in China and Burma, its shark-mouth nose art. Tex Hill joined the AVG in 1941, scored his first victories in January 1942, and by the group's disbanding that summer was a double ace with 12.25 aerial victories; he later added more kills flying the P-51 Mustang with the 23rd Fighter Group.
