Product Highlights
P-40N "Cyclones Flying Circus" Lt. Glen "Gabby" Holder, 8th FG/35th FS, Papua New Guinea, early 1944 1/72 Die Cast Model
The P-40 Warhawk was an American fighter aircraft used extensively during World War II. Designed by Curtiss-Wright, it first flew in 1938 and became known for its rugged construction, reliable performance, and ability to operate from rough airfields. Powered by an Allison V-1710 liquid-cooled V12 engine, the P-40 could reach speeds of roughly 360 miles per hour, depending on the model. It was armed with machine guns mounted in its wings and, on later versions, could carry bombs for ground-attack missions. The P-40 served with the United States Army Air Forces and Allied nations across North Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Pacific. Although it was less maneuverable than some opposing fighters, its durability and diving speed made it a valuable combat aircraft throughout the war.
