About the S-3 Viking
In service with the U.S. Navy from the mid-1970s, the twin-jet S-3 Viking carried advanced electronics for antisubmarine warfare and maritime surveillance, operating from aircraft carriers alongside escorting destroyers and helicopters. In-flight refueling extended its patrol endurance, and its large weapons bay could carry torpedoes, depth charges and sonobuoys.
