Salt Flats Patriot: Spirit of America Belly Tanker
ACME is pleased to announce the next release in the limited-edition series that celebrates the 250th anniversary of the USA! After World War II, a significant amount of military surplus equipment became available at low cost. This included the auxiliary fuel tanks, or "belly tanks," used on fighter aircraft like the P-51 Mustang and the P-38 Lightning. The Spirit of America Belly Tanker is a tribute to those boys and men and women who came home from the war and became the first hot rodders, speed demons, mechanics, designers and drivers who set land speed records and sparked the imagination of so many future racing legends. The Spirit of America Belly Tanker is decorated in a fitting red, white and blue paint scheme, featuring the 1776 star logo on the nose and the American flag on both sides of the cockpit. The removable blue windscreen reveals the detailed cockpit and lifting the engine cover shows the wired and plumbed flathead engine. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each model in this series will be donated to a charity that supports America's Heroes. This includes, but is not limited to, Tunnels to Towers, Wounded Warrior, Gary Sinise Foundation, Folds of Honor, etc. This 1:18 scale Spirit of America Belly Tanker by Acme pays tribute to the fearless racers who transformed surplus WWII P-51 drop tanks into record-chasing machines on the salt flats. Limited to only 300 pieces, this unique collectible features a fully detailed, wired, and plumbed Flathead V-8 engine hidden beneath a removable engine cover, along with an expertly crafted cockpit and removable windscreen. Finished in a striking patriotic livery with "Spirit of America" and 1776 graphics, and riding on authentic salt racer-style tires with metal disc wheel covers, it captures the ingenuity, speed, and American spirit of land-speed racing's golden era.
