About the UH-1 Huey
Developed from 1955 trials for the U.S. Army and first fielded in 1959, the UH-1 "Huey" went into full tri-service production in 1962 and remained in production until 1976, with more than 16,000 built. Roughly 7,000 saw service in Vietnam, where the type became closely associated with American air-mobile operations.
