About the X-62A VISTA
The X-62A VISTA (Variable In-flight Simulation Test Aircraft) is a modified F-16D operated by the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School at Edwards Air Force Base. Its variable-stability flight control system lets it be reprogrammed in flight to mimic the handling characteristics of other aircraft, making it a testbed for evaluating new flight-control laws and, more recently, autonomous flight-control software.
