About the B-58 Hustler
Entering service with Strategic Air Command in 1960, the delta-wing B-58 Hustler could exceed Mach 2 and carried its bomb load and fuel in a jettisonable underfuselage pod. Its high performance came at the cost of a demanding safety record, and the type was retired from service by 1970 in favor of other strategic bombers.
