About the F-4E/F Phantom II
The two-seat, all-weather F-4 Phantom II is one of the best-known aircraft in the history of military aviation. The F-4E variant, developed for the U.S. Air Force, added an internal M61 Vulcan cannon in the nose and could be armed with AIM-9 Sidewinder and AIM-7 Sparrow air-to-air missiles. Powered by two General Electric J-79 engines, it could exceed Mach 2. Several Phantoms remain in service with modernization programs in air forces including Greece and Turkey.
