About the F/A-18 Hornet
Capable of both air-superiority and ground-attack missions, the F/A-18 Hornet has served with the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps as well as the air forces of Australia, Canada and Spain, largely replacing earlier types such as the F-4, A-7 and F-104 in those services. During the 1991 Gulf War, F/A-18s flew several thousand sorties against Iraqi targets.
