The Grumman F6F Hellcat was a powerful American carrier-based fighter aircraft used extensively during World War II. Designed by Grumman, the Hellcat entered service in 1943 and quickly became one of the most successful naval fighters of the war. Built to counter Japan's Mitsubishi A6M Zero, it combined rugged construction, heavy firepower, and excellent pilot protection with impressive speed and maneuverability.
