About the Ostwind
Built on the Panzer IV medium tank chassis, the Ostwind mounted a 37mm Flak 43 anti-aircraft gun behind a thick, open-roofed hexagonal turret shield, succeeding the earlier 20mm-armed Wirbelwind by late 1944. Produced only in small numbers, it was issued to anti-aircraft units of Panzer divisions and could also be used against ground targets in support of troops on the battlefield.
