About the T-34/85
The T-34's sloped frontal armor and wide tracks gave it strong protection and cross-country mobility, and early versions armed with a short 76mm gun outperformed the German Panzer III and IV. In 1943 a redesigned turret with thicker armor and a longer-barreled 85mm gun produced the T-34/85, letting Soviet armored units better match the German Tiger and Panther on the Eastern Front.
