Shop 1:72 scale military models at Fairfield Collectibles, from Italeri, Panzerkampf, and more. This collection spans plastic aircraft and armor kits to pre-built diecast planes and tanks, a popular crossover scale between aviation and military vehicle collecting.

Why Collect 1:72 Scale Models?

1:72 sits at a size that works for both aircraft and ground vehicles without either feeling oversized — a fighter jet and a tank in 1:72 display comfortably together, part of why it's become the standard scale where military aviation and armor collecting overlap. Italeri's deep kit lineup covers both plastic build-it-yourself aircraft and armor, while manufacturers like Panzerkampf and Militaria Diecast add pre-built diecast options at the same scale.

Leading Brands in 1:72 Scale

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these pre-built diecast or build-it-yourself kits?
Both — Italeri's lineup is predominantly plastic kits, while brands like Panzerkampf offer pre-built diecast at the same scale.

What subjects are covered — aircraft or ground vehicles?
Both — that crossover is the appeal of this scale, letting aircraft and armor display together.

Why is 1:72 popular for military collecting?
It keeps large aircraft to a manageable size while still working comfortably for tanks and ground vehicles, a balance smaller or larger scales don't offer.

What's the difference between this and your diecast Aircraft Models or Military Vehicle Models collections?
Those collections span multiple scales; this page is specifically the 1:72 scale cross-section across both aircraft and armor.
