About the F-16 and the 706th Aggressor Squadron
Developed by General Dynamics and introduced in the late 1970s, the F-16 is a versatile single-engine multirole fighter known for its agility and fly-by-wire controls. The 706th Aggressor Squadron, an Air Force Reserve unit assigned to the 926th Wing at Nellis Air Force Base, was redesignated from the 706th Fighter Squadron in May 2023 to fly F-16s in adversary air-combat training, replicating fourth-generation threat-aircraft tactics for U.S. and allied pilots.
