About the Hawker Hurricane
Designed by Sydney Camm and first flown in 1935, the Hawker Hurricane became one of the Royal Air Force's primary fighters and, though often overshadowed by the Supermarine Spitfire, accounted for the majority of RAF victories during the Battle of Britain. Its partly fabric-covered structure made it durable and relatively easy to repair, and it also served in ground-attack and tropical roles throughout Allied operations.
