About the Royal Deux-Ponts Regiment
A French-German regiment drawing soldiers from the Palatinate, Saarland, Alsace and Lorraine, the Royal Deux-Ponts sailed from France in 1780 as part of Rochambeau's expeditionary force. At the siege of Yorktown in October 1781 the regiment stormed British Redoubt No. 9, helping force the British surrender five days later.
