About Bill Whisner
The F-86 Sabre was a transonic jet fighter developed by North American Aviation and best known for its air combat over Korea against the Soviet-designed MiG-15. Flying P-51 Mustangs with the 352nd Fighter Group in World War II, William T. Whisner Jr. was credited with 15.5 aerial victories. He returned to combat in Korea flying the F-86, where he became the seventh jet ace of the war and the first ace of the 51st Fighter-Interceptor Wing.
