About the Hs 123A-1
A rugged, strut-braced biplane of all-metal construction powered by a BMW 132 radial engine, the Henschel Hs 123 was Germany's single-seat dive bomber and close-support aircraft of the mid-1930s. Though already outdated in configuration by the start of World War II, it proved durable in ground-attack operations, its strong airframe letting it fly from rough forward airstrips, particularly on the Eastern Front.
